Find Clare County Court Schedule

Start your search with the right court. A Clare County court schedule can list a hearing, arraignment, motion, trial, or review setting, so the first step is figuring out which court holds the case you need. The county offers a public court display and case search as current reference tools. Use them for dates, then confirm any setting with the responsible court office before you act on it. A Clare County court docket may draw from district, circuit, or probate proceedings, and one public view will not show everything. Protected matters stay out, and recent changes may not have posted yet.

How the Clare County Court Calendar Works

The Harrison courthouse runs several trial-court dockets at once. The 80th District Court takes traffic matters and civil infractions. It also handles misdemeanors, small claims, summary proceedings, and felony preliminary proceedings. The 55th Circuit Court handles general civil cases and family matters. Felony trials after bindover and circuit appeals land there too. Probate District 17 keeps its own probate and family-related record path. One shared address does not mean one shared calendar. A date search has to name the right court.

A case number, summons, citation, or notice usually states which court you need. The Clare County courts directory lists all three court offices with their contacts. It is the place to start. A Clare County court calendar result only counts when it matches the court and the case. The first event with a similar party name is not automatically yours.

Clare County Court Display Dates

MiCOURT Court Display is Michigan's date-oriented public view. It lets you step through a selected date with previous and next controls. The public table lists Party Name, Time, Room, and Case Number. That makes it handy for checking a posted Clare County court setting. You just need the proper court. A case detail view may also include a next-hearing field.

Remember that the display is an event view, not a certified court record. A court-specific display can omit a hearing or hide nonpublic information. So a blank date is not a final answer. Check the case history, then call the court.

Clare County Court Date Lookups

Use the case number from your court paper whenever you can. Without it, run a name search in MiCOURT Case Search. Narrow the results to the selected Clare court. The public service is informational only. It does not replace the clerk's official record. Confirm a result before travel, a remote appearance, or any response deadline.

  1. Read the citation, summons, notice, or order to identify whether the matter belongs in 80th District Court, 55th Circuit Court, or Probate District 17.
  2. Select the matching Clare court in MiCOURT and search by the exact case number. A name search can use last or business name and optional first, middle, and birth-year fields.
  3. Open the public result and record the next setting, event type, court, time, and date if available. Then compare the event with Court Display for that date.
  4. Call 80th District at 989-539-7173, circuit/clerk at 989-539-7131, or probate at 989-539-7109 to confirm the date and location when the public view is incomplete or conflicts.

Need a formal copy of the case history? The 55th Circuit's Search Request Form can request a Register of Actions. For district and probate records, contact those offices directly about their copy procedures.

Three Clare County Calendar Paths

Which court you pick in MiCOURT matters a lot. A Clare traffic citation normally points to the 80th District Court. A felony often starts with a district preliminary setting. It then moves to the 55th Circuit Court after bindover. Estate, guardianship, and similar probate matters follow a Probate District 17 path. If the register shows a transfer or appeal, search the receiving court. Search the original one too.

The official county court landing page places these offices at 225 W. Main Street in Harrison. It promises no public terminal, no daily printed docket, and no separate scheduling-coordinator line. For an access question the court's published material does not cover, call ahead.

The county directory is a reliable way to find court contacts and linked Zoom instructions. It is not a case-specific calendar, though. Each setting still needs its own verification.

Court Settings: What Each Field Means

A setting line tells you an event is scheduled, not that the case is finished. The Court Display columns invite a quick comparison. In Clare County, they line up a calendar event against a case record. Read the time and room together with the case number. Then check the court heading. If the setting type is unclear, ask the clerk to identify the event. That beats guessing at an unfamiliar local label.

DateThe selected court date. Court Display permits date navigation, so verify that the displayed date is current.
TimeThe scheduled time shown for the event; it may be a calendar time rather than a guarantee of individual hearing length.
RoomThe room label displayed for the event where configured. Confirm any change directly with the court.
Case numberThe court-assigned identifier that connects a calendar row to the case history.
Setting typeThe event label, such as arraignment, pretrial, motion hearing, trial, sentencing, or review.

Clare County Hearing Names

Two settings can do very different jobs. An arraignment or initial appearance is an early criminal event. A preliminary examination is a district-court felony stage before a possible bindover. A motion hearing deals with a filed request. It also covers the resulting order. A pretrial or status conference manages the case. It runs before trial or a plea. These labels tell you what is scheduled, never what the court will decide.

Register of Actions
The chronological case-history record, often called an ROA on Clare circuit records.
Continuance
A move of a scheduled event to a later date; the older event can stay in the case history.
Disposition
The recorded outcome of a charge, claim, or petition, which is distinct from a future setting.
Bindover
The transfer of a felony matter from district court to circuit court after the preliminary stage or a waiver.

Clare County publishes no complete list of local calendar codes. When you call a court office, quote the entire displayed label. A term from a statewide report may not match the exact wording in a particular Clare calendar entry.

When a Court Date Moves

Court dates move. A continuance, reset, pass, adjournment, new notice of hearing, or disposition entry can all override a setting. That is true anywhere in Clare County. So trust the most recent future setting the court has confirmed. A saved calendar snapshot may still list an old event. Never lean on a stale notice alone.

Pull up the chronological case history first. Find the later entry, then check Court Display for the new date. When the public case and the calendar disagree, call the clerk for confirmation. Weather closures, holiday changes, and switches to remote hearings also call for a phone call. The county publishes no closure calendar or reset-code legend.

Note: a court order beats a saved calendar image. The clerk's register does too, when the dates conflict.

Clare County Remote Hearing Clues

The county court page posts separate Zoom instructions for the magistrate and for Judge Farrell. That split is a clue. Remote directions in Clare County can differ from one court to the next. They can even differ by judge. A calendar row alone does not show remote appearance. It may not carry a meeting link at all. Read the posted instructions, then confirm the current appearance method with the court office.

The county page gathers its court services in one place. Even so, each public result ties to an individual court. That division helps when a district date, a circuit setting, and a probate question land close together. Each must be confirmed through its own channel.

Missed Settings and What Comes Next

Missed a Clare County setting? Act quickly. Read the newest notice and the case history. Then contact the court office or an attorney. Only the court decides what follows, whether that is a new setting, an order, a default, a bond consequence, or something else. A payment portal or an old calendar view cannot answer that question.

Missed a Setting? A missed criminal, traffic, civil, or probate setting can have serious case-specific consequences, including a default, warrant, bond issue, or other court action.

Call the court that holds the case promptly and ask how to confirm the current status and any required next step.

For a legal decision about a missed Clare County setting, consult a licensed attorney.

Clare County Calendar Snapshots

Save a public calendar result for tracking your own case or for historical research, and note the court, the calendar date, and the retrieval date. Court Display gives you a dated view. Still, records change, and some events stay off the public calendar. For a date that truly matters, start with a current MiCOURT result. Then try the court display. Then call the clerk.

Farwell's CivicWeb portal shows how a local government posts its calendars and documents. It can lead you to village meeting material. It is not, however, a Clare County judicial docket. It cannot replace a Court Display lookup. This page on the portal illustrates that municipal system.

The distinction matters. Without it, a searcher could mistake a village agenda or minutes for an 80th District Court case setting. Any judicial date must be checked with the court itself or the state court system.

Federal dates live in a separate world. The Eastern District of Michigan's Bay City location belongs to a federal system that never files its matters in Clare County's state-court docket. The courthouse page there reflects that separate federal operation.

Federal matters run through their own docket access. A federal courthouse listing is not proof of where a Clare County state-court hearing will happen.

Eastern District Local Rule 38.1 puts Clare inside the Bay City jury geography for federal cases. That regional assignment is federal only. The state-court schedule kept by Clare's circuit, district, and probate offices stays exactly as it was. The rule text confirms the federal grouping.

Keep the two calendars separate. That habit prevents a common jurisdiction error, where a case citation names a court far from the Clare County courthouse and a reader assumes it belongs there.
